Today, I decided to try out Sketchbook Pro for the first time in a while. What began as a simple trashcan, quickly escalated to the scene you now see. It was a lot of fun to make.

Second Quarter Hopes
During first quarter, I was assigned
a project to do for Scivis with Cody. Beforehand I was assigned a sketch book
to draw in daily and post to my blog. I had to stop doing the sketches to help
work on the Scivis project. I had enjoyed doing the daily sketches because
sketching is one of my favorite kinds of art. For the Scivis, I had to do
storyboarding and script writing about the Mars rover Spirit. We had somewhat
of a choice on what we wanted to base the project on, and space seemed the most
interesting to do. Coming up with a narrative story about the rover and its
missions was harder than I originally thought. I would enjoy doing the
storyboarding but that comes after the script. I’m not a big writer so coming
up with ways to make the story interesting was pretty difficult. I still have
not completed it and it seems like a waste sitting around with writer’s block
when I could have still been sketching and improving my drawing skills. For the
second quarter I would like to work on drawing again, or design. I’m not a big
fan of writing and this project felt kind of forced onto us. My main interests
are drawing and design, both digital and on paper.
